S is for Snake | Slaughtered by Sekhmet

As I stepped outside yesterday evening a curious shape caught me eye.

Venturing closer, I saw the snake had a puncture would in its throat (just visible here) and that its vertebrae was damaged in two places. I can only surmise that Sekhmet is responsible for this, as she is for leaving a variety of small cadavers I find dotted outside the house.

On the morning of the 25th December I'd found a really cute little snake in exactly the same place I found this one, which appeared to be dead or very close to it. I brought it inside in the hope that the warmth would revive it, but no such luck.

Does anyone have any idea what type of snake this is?
